The Bocksten Tunic Bocksten is a peat bog in Halland, in the southwest of Sweden. In 1936 the body of Bocksten Man was found there and taken to Varberg Museum. He had been murdered, and an oak paling driven through his body to stop him from haunting. He wore a tunic, a mantle, woolen hose, leather shoes, carried two leather belts and two knives.

Some pieces of clothes were sewn with woolen threads, which survived as nicely as the garment itself. Other pieces were sewn with linen threads, which deteriorated with time. There I found a 'commercial' paper pattern for the only surviving complete Medieval man's outfit, found in the Bocksten bog in Sweden in 1936. It consisted of a pair of hose with 'socks' attached, a tunic, a hood and a cloak. All recovered garments were made of wool, if any linen garments were worn with them they had been destroyed.
